We mourn the loss of Charles “Chuck” Cleveland McVeigh, CLR’s second president, whose impact on the construction industry and CLR will be lasting. Chuck’s 25 years at CLR, with 20 as president, were marked by his dedication to stability and fair play between contractors and unions. His strategic leadership led to progressive agreements and significant improvements, including achieving a strike-free settlement in the construction industry for the first time in ten years.

He emphasized the importance of fair competition and balanced market dynamics, helping CLR navigate the industry’s challenges and ensuring its growth and stability. Chuck was a driving force behind many transformative changes that shaped the landscape of labour relations in British Columbia.
